Frugal Marmalade

We have run out of marmalade, a major disaster in our house! Hubby does like a bit of marmalade on his toast in the morning. Normally I make a HUGE batch in January when you can buy Seville oranges as we like our marmalade thick cut, but for various reasons I didn’t this year. So I bought a tin of orange pulp (unfortunately thin cut, but never mind) and some sugar, added water, boiled it up and hey presto, marmalade in 15 minutes. The cost of the orange pulp and sugar came to ¬£3.64 and it made 7 jars, so that is 52p per jar. Considerably cheaper and a lot nicer than cheap supermarket marmalade. It should keep us going for a while…
